Born in Scarborough, North Yorkshire in 1943, Mike Corbyn attended Scarborough School of Art, and then gained the Art Teacher's Certificate at Leeds College of Art. He went on to teach at Ripon County Secondary School and in 1977-78, completed an MA in Art at London University Institute of Education.

In January 1979 he became Head of Art at Stokesley School. He was appointed Advisory Teacher for Art, North Yorkshire for the year 1990-91 returning to Stokesley until retirement in July 2003.

He has found inspiration in the landscape of North Yorkshire, although he is equally drawn to the remote areas of the North Western Highlands of Scotland because of its wild and untamed nature.

Mike works on site in sketchbooks or directly on to board or canvas enabling him to make an immediate response to the environment of the moment. He understands the need for a sound composition where light, form, colour, line, pattern and texture all play their part. Working mainly in oils and occassionally acrylic, his works reflect the spirit and atmosphere of Scotland and North Yorkshire with which he is well associated.

Please feel free to contact Mike for more information about any paintings or a private viewing of the works. Original works are available in the price range £125 - £1495.

Limited edition prints (North Yorkshire selection) available in the price range £55 - £75 unframed, £105 - £125 framed.
